Concepts and Goals

Sora, the sky...

The word "sora" means "the sky" in Japanese. The corporation is named after the sky's immense, unlimited resources for creativity. The sky is the canvas on which the clouds and stars perform not only to entertain us but also to soothe and inspire us.

Sora+"s"

Why is an "s" added to "sora" when the Japanese language has no plurals? It's to hint at the cultural diversities under this common sky. As we view the sky from various places in the world, we use different words for the sky. Sometimes, because of the linguistic differences, we forget that we are more alike than different. The sky above us and the basic human needs and inspirations of the life experienced below are basically the same in spite of the languages that separate us. For example, when the French talk about "le ciel," we in the English-speaking world may not know what it is or sense that their sky is different from the sky we see. Somehow, we allow language differences to inhibit us from sharing what the sky (life) provides us -- drama, inspiration, and opportunities to share its artwork.

Dynamic, unique and universal sky

The sky is dynamic as the clouds shift through various speeds and levels of brightness -- sometimes peaceful, sometimes glorious, and sometimes threatening. No two days are identical. Our life, too, is ever-changing, as we react to new challenges and the gifts that come our way. As we are looking at the sky right now, many babies are being born, and others are leaving. Some of us are crying. Some are laughing or are joyful. All under this same canopy, we are experiencing different scenes from our one-act play called life.

Soras hopes that this website will offer unique opportunities to memorialize and share life's events, whether it is through sending unique, multicultural gifts or to simply read the thoughts of others.

As a founder of this corporation, I invite you to make this site an active meeting place where we can inspire others and be inspired.
